There is a reason that Muscle Surfing aka Tavia has been nominated as the Best of Burque, she is too legit to quit. With so many massage businesses in ABQ, it’s hard to pick one. I made the right choice by picking Tavia. I was having some bad shoulder and lower back pain on a Friday evening so I googled massage places. I came across Tavia’s website and seen that she is at Whole Foods on Friday evenings. I got in my car and found her! It was around 7pm and she was doing chair massages. She was kind and asked where my issues were. I sat in the chair and she began doing her “magic” healing. She hit every spot that needed attention, worked out the trigger points, gave recommendations about sleep, vitamins, and stretches. After 15 minutes, there was a HUGE difference. My pain was literally gone and I felt so much better. I will definitely be going back for more routine massages. Thanks Tavia!

Tavia is straightforward on the phone and tells you what her training is and asks in what way she can help you. I am recovering from an injury from sports, not only to mention ‘stress’ related issues from a cross country move that landed me in Albuquerque. Although I have only been able to see her a few times, her approach and understanding of my injuries along with her training in what I would call are ‘medical massage’ approaches has turned around pain and numbness I was experiencing.
As a result I am back to my normal training routine and activity level, including sparring. I do hope to schedule with her soon for a tune up, but that highlights my whole point: Tavia has brought me from being injured and stressed, experiencing numbness on my left side to living without any of those afflictions.
I should say, so you know, this type of massage–or medical massage therapy–costs somewhat more than the discount ‘massages’ that only uses the same word, but not approach in delivering those seeking help to true recovery and wellness. There’s probably only one or two people live Tavia in any city across the country so be glad if you have found her here.
